Our Friend, Eric
Mom and Dad found out last Friday that our friend, Eric Willet passed away. Eric was one of our neighbors at the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery. Eric and his family were at Hagerman the entire 7 years that Mom and Dad lived there. We were very sad to learn the news. We are driving to Hagerman tomorrow to visit. The memorial service is on Wednesday.
This picture is from a couple of years ago when Dad and Eric went fishing on the Oregon coast with several friends. Dad joked that the fish Eric caught was almost uglier than he was! The way he was holding it, you'd think the fish was contagious!
Bye Grandma......
Electrifying
The "just awake" look
The "punk rocker" look
Dad, are you sure there aren't lasting effects from static electricity???
More Slides!!!
Hanging Out
More Slides
I'm trying out every slide that I find! We visited Aunt Angela and Uncle Corie's house and I slid on their slide too! All was going well, until I fell off the steps! Whoops! No worries, my cousin, Madison, helped me back up!
Cameron and I
After a couple of days at BJ and Tanya's house, I finally decided that Cameron didn't have cooties........well, at least I don't think he has them anymore!
More Fishing
Dad went fishing again with BJ.........they claim they did really well. Looks to me like Dad got sunburned! Did you actually catch anything, Dad?

The big walleye
Mom, Emersyn and I are finally meeting Dad today. Before we met, Dad and BJ went out fishing one more time and Dad caught a 6 1/2 pound walleye. Wow, Dad! You finally caught a big one!
Fishing with Owen
Since turkey hunting camp ended early, Dad went fishing with BJ and his son Owen. Owen caught a really nice northern pike and several walleyes. Dad even caught some fish. Geez Dad, when are we going out fishing for walleyes?
More Turkeys!
Dad is usually lucky to get one turkey, but at this point, he and BJ had 3 turkeys! BJ had one more tag left and wanted to try his luck with a bow. Dad was skeptical, but agreed to help call. They didn't go far before they spotted another bird strutting a small rise. When he worked over the top, they hustled over to his strutting spot. After only one sequence of calling, he popped over the rise and began strutting at 25 yards. Unfortuntely, he wouldn't turn around so BJ could get his bow drawn back. After 10 minutes of strutting, the right moment finally happened, he turned around and BJ drew his bow and made a perfect shot at 23 yards. Nice shot, BJ!
A grand slam in one day - of sorts, of course!
BJ and Dad returned to turkey hunting camp in pretty high spirits to see how BJ's brother, Ty, and Ty's girlfriend, Marissa had fared. Marissa got her first turkey ever that morning, but they hadn't found much in the afternoon. BJ and Dad agreed to go out with Ty and Marissa the next morning to video tape their hunting and help call.
The next morning, they got set-up in a creek bottom with a group of gobblers on each side of them. Dad said it was straight out of a textbook! It didn't take long after the groups flew down that they were tripping over themselves to get at the hen purring and cutting in the bottom. The first group of 4 jakes and 2 gobblers got there first and Ty and Marissa got both gobblers. Great job, guys! Unfortunately, BJ's decoy also got caught in the crossfire. The decoy looks a little more ragged now, but it still works........as they were about to find out...
After the double, the second group of gobblers kept gobbling. They entire entourage shifted back 50 yards and called in another 5 jakes and 1 gobbler. Ty made a perfect shot at 20 yards.
Dad was pretty excited, he sent Mom three text messages that morning! Needless to say, turkey hunting camp didn't last that long this year!

A double!
After Dad got a gobbler, BJ and Dad spotted some more birds across the river. Just then, some other hunters spooked the birds to Dad's side of the river. BJ and Dad set-up and called, but didn't hear anything. They got up to leave and of course, spooked the gobbler that was coming in!
They decided to walk back to the truck and heard another gobbler on the way back. They crawled into position and started calling and brought 3 jakes into yards. The jakes put on quite the show, gobbling and strutting. So much of a show that they attracted the attention of three gobblers which flew across the river to BJ and Dad. Unfortantely, the three gobblers spotted BJ trying to get turned around on them and wandered off.
After all the excitement, Dad was ready for a nap. BJ drove Dad to a new spot and they settled in to take a nap in the truck. Unfortunately for Dad, they were only parked for 5 minutes when Dad heard another gobble. They left the truck and found a likely spot to set-up. Two gobblers came across the field and completely circled the set-up. They just about got away, but they couldn't resist taking one closer look at the decoys. When they popped their heads over the hill, both Dad and BJ shot - a true double on longbeards!
What an exciting day! And Dad still hadn't slept!

Where is Dad now?
Dad went turkey hunting with his friend BJ last Friday. Dad drove all night to get to BJ's house. He got there at 4:00 am and they left to the hunting area at 5:00 am. Dad somehow stayed awake and BJ called in a gobbler for him before the fog had lifted. Nice bird dad!
