A double!

After Dad got a gobbler, BJ and Dad spotted some more birds across the river.  Just then, some other hunters spooked the birds to Dad's side of the river.  BJ and Dad set-up and called, but didn't hear anything.  They got up to leave and of course, spooked the gobbler that was coming in!

They decided to walk back to the truck and heard another gobbler on the way back.  They crawled into position and started calling and brought 3 jakes into yards.  The jakes put on quite the show, gobbling and strutting.  So much of a show that they attracted the attention of three gobblers which flew across the river to BJ and Dad.  Unfortantely, the three gobblers spotted BJ trying to get turned around on them and wandered off.

After all the excitement, Dad was ready for a nap.  BJ drove Dad to a new spot and they settled in to take a nap in the truck.  Unfortunately for Dad, they were only parked for 5 minutes when Dad heard another gobble.  They left the truck and found a likely spot to set-up.  Two gobblers came across the field and completely circled the set-up.  They just about got away, but they couldn't resist taking one closer look at the decoys.  When they popped their heads over the hill, both Dad and BJ shot - a true double on longbeards!

What an exciting day!  And Dad still hadn't slept!
